SUZANNE MILLER | PRESIDENT AND FOUNDER
SPM President Suzanne Miller founded SPM Communications in 1999 and has grown it to one of the nation’s top 100-ranked independent PR firms.
She leveraged her long-time contacts in PR, marketing and advertising to land her first clients: Whataburger, Chipotle Mexican Grill and Heely’s, the wheel-in-the-heel shoe company. Those three clients would set the stage for what would become SPM’s main areas of specialty: restaurant, retail, franchise and consumer packaged goods.
Suzanne’s commitment to maintaining the company’s “No Jerks” policy has been at the core of SPM’s culture. It means SPM fosters an atmosphere of mutual respect among company leaders, team members and clients, and chooses to work with brands and clients we trust. She has evolved the agency culture into a productive business model in which deep commitment and boundless collaboration make great things happen for our clients and our team – a philosophy that has landed the agency in The Dallas Morning News, Wall Street Journal and on NPR.
In 2015, Suzanne was named a PR News Top Women in PR, a prestigious national honor. In addition to building a successful, nationally-ranked PR agency, she is particularly proud of her pro bono work for Texas Neurofibromatosis (NF) Foundation, including testifying in front of Congress in 2008 regarding NF research funding, which was approved the following year in the amount of $25 million.
Suzanne and her husband Steve have three children, and the family enjoys traveling, relaxing at the lake (no cellphones!), yoga and outdoor activities. Their dog Chili Roo serves as the agency's Canine Executive Officer (CEO) and rules the pack on dog days.
CHRISSIE JONES | SOCIAL MEDIA DIRECTOR
Chrissie Jones joined SPM to lead the agency’s growing social media practice. She brings more than eight years’ experience in digital and social media, and has crafted compelling content, created meaningful campaign strategies and built social communities from the ground up for clients like Chevrolet, Google, and YouTube. With her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma, she’s a diehard Sooner fan, and will smack-talk with the best of them during football season. When she’s not working, she’s busy surviving #ToddlerLife with her son, writing for her mom blog, and continuing on her never-ending quest to satisfy her sweet tooth.
KRISTEN KAUFFMAN | EDITORIAL VICE PRESIDENT
Kristen draws on her experience as a veteran news and PR writer to lead the agency in writing and editing, crisis communications and media relations. She began her journalism career at the Associated Press while still attending Southern Methodist University and has written for The Dallas Morning News and Texas Monthly. TV news credits include anchor/reporter/producer in Sherman, Texas, executive producer at the Birmingham CBS affiliate, special projects producer at the New Orleans NBC affiliate WDSU and associate producer at WFAA-TV in Dallas. She and her husband Mitch own Urbano Cafe in Dallas.
LOREN RUTLEDGE | VICE PRESIDENT
Loren leads on account strategy and integrated campaigns encompassing paid, earned, shared and owned media. Her background includes extensive major brand PR experience, celebrity integrations, media campaigns, blogger/influencer campaigns and national media events. A Missouri native, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with an emphasis in public relations from the University of Arkansas. Loren’s boxer Estelle is a model for a pet products company and is in the process of learning agency etiquette.
LORI ODORISIO | CONTROLLER
Lori uses her financial acumen to keep SPM financially strong, stable and prepared for continued growth. A native Mississippian and graduate of Mississippi College in Clinton, she and her husband moved to Texas in 1997. They currently live in Flower Mound and have a son in college and a daughter who is a zookeeper at the famed Monterry Bay Aquarium in California.
MARY KATE JEFFRIES | VICE PRESIDENT
Mary Kate's experience includes managing product and brand launches, media relations and community partnerships in the consumer packaged goods, restaurant, retail and travel and hospitality industries. She leads agency partnerships such as IPREX, and lends her considerable expertise across the agency on measurement, new business, planning and strategy. Mary Kate is a graduate of Boston University (Go Terriers!) with a master’s in journalism and a bachelor’s in public relations. An avid sports fan, she rarely misses a Cowboys home game at AT&T Stadium. Mary Kate is a longtime community volunteer for organizations such as the Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, the Junior League of Dallas and the Dallas Historical Society. Her dog Millie is a regular office visitor who is loved by all.
NIKKI RICHARDSON | DIRECTOR
Nikki leads major national accounts for SPM and specializes in PR strategy development, campaign execution, issues and crisis management, content creation and influencer engagement. She has worked both agency and client side in nonprofit, corporate and association communications, providing strategic direction and developing integrated B2B and B2C campaigns. Nikki has a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University, a master’s degree from the University of Colorado and is accredited in public relations. While not working, she enjoys trying new restaurants, running, skiing and traveling. Nikki lives in Dallas with her husband, daughter and two miniature Australian shepherds.
PAMELA HUGHES | DIRECTOR
Pam leads multiple accounts on planning, strategy and execution, bringing a unique talent for performing under pressure that was honed at D.C. institutions like The Heritage Foundation, Weber Shandwick and the White House. She's worked with elected officials, senior business executives and world leaders, most recently at the George W. Bush Presidential Center. Pam is a Dallas native and a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas. Outside of the office, she’s active in the Junior League of Dallas and leads her church’s working moms group.
SARA HUNDLEY | SENIOR ACCOUNT SUPERVISOR
Sara brings a strong, cross-disciplinary marketing and PR approach to her restaurant accounts, having worked client-side for several national restaurant brands. Her leadership encompasses management, operations, marketing and product development to create effective strategies that meet clients' business goals. She is a Texas Tech alum and serves on the J.L. Long PTA executive board, Mockingbird Elementary PTA executive board, Woodrow Wilson Community Foundation Board and Medical City Dallas Kids Teaching Kids Board. She lives in Dallas with her husband and two children.
